About

I am an historian of modern European history with specialities in German, Jewish, Polish, and urban history. My first book, Shattered Spaces: Encountering Jewish Ruins in Postwar Germany and Poland, explores the history of Jewish sites in the urban landscape from 1945 to the present (Berlin, Warsaw, Essen, Potsdam, and Wrocław).

Shattered Spaces was released by Harvard University Press in November 2011.

I am currently working on an edited volume with Erica Lehrer, currently titled, Constructing Pluralism: Space, Nostalgia, and the Transnational Future of the Jewish Past in Poland (under review).
